This is a portrait of Peter Barwig, circa 1885. Peter is the focal point of our Barwig website and considered the patriarc of our family.
This is a digitized image of a (xerox) reproduction of the original photo. It's whereabouts are currently unknown.
After some calculation and indepth research, we believe we have identified the 3 females who have posed with Peter. The older woman, seated to his right is Peter's second wife, Katherine Tarzynska-Barwig, better known as "Katy". The eldest of the two girls is Helen, who would be about 18 years old in 1885. The young girl, who appears frightened by the prospect of having her picture taken, is Antonia. She would have been about 8 years old at the time.
Peter would be about 65 years old when the portrait was done, and would live to be about 68 when he passed away on May 20, 1889. His complete Last Will and Testament appears in the Barwig Family History book .
The inscription on the photo frame reads, "E.G. Ressler Stevens Point, Wis."
