This map shows the German Federation from 1866 to 1871. The Dantzic Province is located in the upper right quandrant of the map, on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Barney Kostka indicated, in his note on the back of the photo of his 75th birthday, that he was born in Danzig, in the Danzik Province of Poland in 1873. Danzig was still under Prussian rule in 1873, but came under control of the newly reformed government of Poland in 1919.
